by akinbodenaphtal@gmail.com

The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) launched a hands-on technical support program for the Autoridade Tributária de Moçambique, targeting real audit cases in the banking and telecommunications sectors. This initiative aims to strengthen Mozambique’s ability to tackle complex, high-revenue industries critical to its economy.

Partnering with TEDI (Taxing Efficiently for Developing Inclusively), ATAF’s program moves beyond traditional training by adopting a practical, case-based approach. It guides tax officials through the entire audit process, from case selection to closure, equipping them with skills directly applicable to their work.

The program is expected to boost tax assessments and collections, enhancing Mozambique’s domestic resource mobilization. By addressing sector-specific challenges, it supports the development of a more transparent and efficient tax system.
