KBC Group appoints Bartel Puelinckx as CFO

KBC Group, a provider of banking and insurance services has appointed Bartel Puelinckx as the new Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Luc Popelier, who will assume the role of CEO at Hamburg Commercial Bank.

With extensive experience within KBC Group, both in Belgium and internationally, Puelinckx is well-positioned to make substantial contributions to the Executive Committee and strengthen ties with the investment community.

This leadership transition will take effect on 1 September 2024.

Bartel began his career in 1992 in trade finance at Kredietbank (Belgium). In 2002, he was promoted to group-wide relationship manager, focusing on major multinational business clients.

From 2006 to 2010, Bartel worked at K&H, KBC Group’s Hungarian subsidiary. In 2007, he joined the Executive Committee of K&H, overseeing HR management and credit policy.

He served as the Chief Finance Officer for CSOB, KBC’s Czech subsidiary from 2010 to 2014. In July 2014, he returned to Belgium and was appointed Senior General Manager of KBC Group Finance, overseeing Group Finance, Group Tax, and Financial Insights & Communication (Investor Relations).
