Aimee Freegard, Audit Senior Manager at KPMG, is urging young women to embrace finance as a rewarding career path, highlighting the unique perspective women bring to the field.
“Women offer a distinctive insight that truly enriches the work environment,” Freegard said. “I’d love to see more young women considering finance—it’s a path full of potential.”
With a robust career at KPMG, Freegard’s role extends far beyond traditional auditing. As a qualified accountant managing a diverse portfolio of audit clients, her days are a dynamic mix of leadership and mentorship. She has spearheaded internship programs, organized development centers for aspiring managers, and guided dozens of colleagues through their professional training, showcasing her commitment to nurturing talent.
Beyond the boardroom, Freegard’s influence reaches the island’s youth. A dedicated Girl Guide leader, she mentors young women through weekly activities, instilling confidence and skills. She also collaborates with Junior Achievement, sharing early-career lessons with students entering the workforce, reinforcing her belief in empowering the next generation.

Looking to the future, Freegard is poised to advance her career while amplifying her advocacy through Girl Guiding. “I want to encourage more young women to see finance as a viable future,” she emphasized. Her decision to study locally at the University College Isle of Man (UCM), rather than relocating, has proven pivotal. “Staying here opened doors—like interning with the Small Countries Programme and joining KPMG—building a network I might not have found elsewhere,” she reflected.
Based on the Isle of Man, Freegard credits her unique opportunities to the island’s supportive ecosystem. As she continues to climb the professional ladder, her mission remains clear: to inspire and pave the way for women in finance, proving that local roots can fuel global impact.
