Shabnam Gungabissoon serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at AVA/Natec Medical Ltd, a role she has held since June 2023. Based in Mauritius, she drives financial strategy and operational excellence, leveraging her extensive experience in corporate finance and strategic leadership.
Gungabissoon has implemented robust reporting systems and lean business models, enhancing efficiency and cost control while improving EBITDA. As a strategic partner to business units, she fosters strong relationships and spearheads fundraising initiatives to support future growth. Her skills in operational oversight, strategic vision, and board relations ensure AVA/Natec’s financial health and alignment with long-term objectives.
Before AVA/Natec, Gungabissoon was Head of Group Finance at Grit Real Estate Income Group. Managing finances across subsidiaries in Morocco, Mauritius, Mozambique, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Senegal, and Botswana, she successfully raised capital, issued preference notes, and restructured debt to reduce gearing and loan-to-value ratios.
She ensured timely audits, built high-performing finance teams, and enhanced group reporting and accounting systems for accuracy and control. Her process improvements strengthened segregation of duties and authority levels, showcasing her expertise in financial analysis, business analysis, and mergers and acquisitions.

Gungabissoon also served as Finance Director – Africa at CCI Global (Mauritius) Ltd, overseeing subsidiaries in South Africa, Mauritius, and Kenya. Promoted from Financial Controller, she contributed to strategic planning, expanding the group into Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia. She provided leadership in financial stewardship, budgeting, and operational accounting while driving process improvements and audit preparedness.
Earlier roles include Financial Controller at CCI Global, Owner of SPR Consulting Services Ltd , and Finance Manager at Bayport Financial Services Group and Currimjee Informatics Ltd. Starting her career at Mauritius Telecom as a Junior Accountant, Shabnam built a strong foundation in financial management.
