Nuno Simoes is a highly accomplished finance professional and seasoned banking executive with deep expertise in strategic financial management, corporate governance, and business transformation across African markets.
As Chief Financial Officer and Executive Board Member of First Capital Bank Zimbabwe, he provides strategic, tactical, and operational leadership to the CEO, Executive Committee, and Board.
His role focuses on aligning financial strategy with long-term growth objectives while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance.
Simões brings a rare blend of hands-on operational experience and high-level strategic insight. Before his current appointment, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Access Bank Angola, where he played a pivotal role in the successful integration of Standard Chartered Bank Angola. He was instrumental in financial planning and analysis, capital and liquidity management, IFRS reporting, and driving digital transformation initiatives.
His leadership extended to corporate governance, where he simultaneously held positions as Chairman of the Shareholders Meeting, Company Secretary, and Head of Planning and Corporate Governance at Finibanco Angola (later Access Bank Angola). In these roles, he strengthened regulatory compliance, led due diligence processes for major acquisitions, and enhanced internal controls and governance frameworks.

Earlier in his career, Simões held senior positions at Banco Caixa Geral Angola, where he restructured accounting and planning departments and implemented key IFRS standards. His international experience includes significant roles in Portugal with Oney Portugal as Internal Audit Manager, PricewaterhouseCoopers as Associate in Financial Services, and various commercial positions that built his strong foundation in financial control, risk management, and business performance optimization.
