Quest Merchant Bank has announced the appointment of Andrew Olufunmilayo Lewis, widely known as Ayo Lewis, as Executive Director, Risk Management and Executive Compliance Officer, following regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The bank said the appointment underscores its strategic focus on strengthening governance, enhancing risk management frameworks, and reinforcing institutional resilience as it advances its long-term growth agenda.
Lewis brings over 33 years of experience in the financial services industry, spanning enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, and core banking operations. Before joining Quest Merchant Bank, he served as Group Chief Risk Officer at Sterling Financial Holdings Company, where he led the development and implementation of integrated risk management systems across the group’s subsidiaries.
Earlier in his career, he spent more than two decades in market-facing roles across consumer, commercial, and corporate banking, giving him a well-rounded perspective on risk, performance, and value creation. His blend of operational and strategic expertise is expected to support the bank’s ambition to scale sustainably while maintaining regulatory excellence.
In his new role, Lewis will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, strengthening risk culture, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory standards.

Lewis holds a degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos and has completed executive education programmes at leading global institutions, including Stanford University, Wharton School, London School of Management and Leadership, and Lagos Business School.
