Driving Strategic Finance at Yas Tanzania

As CFO and Executive Director of Yas Tanzania, Rwetabura leads the company’s financial strategy, governance, and performance management framework. He oversees budgeting, reporting, capital allocation, and compliance, ensuring alignment with international accounting standards and shareholder expectations. His leadership has been instrumental in reinforcing financial resilience while supporting the company’s competitive positioning within Tanzania’s dynamic telecom landscape.

Leading Transformation During Corporate Transition

During his tenure with Millicom (Tigo), Rwetabura briefly stepped into the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer, where he successfully led the merger of Zantel Plc and MIC into a unified operation. He also oversaw the strategic transition of the business from Millicom to Axian Group ownership. This period marked a significant transformation phase, requiring sharp execution, stakeholder coordination, and financial integration—responsibilities he managed with clarity and precision.

Building Financial Structures Across Telecom Markets

Rwetabura’s leadership journey includes senior finance roles at Millicom (Tigo), where he served as Acting CFO and Financial Controller, as well as Finance Director at Zanzibar Telecom (ZANTEL). At ZANTEL, he supervised full-spectrum accounting operations, presented annual budgets to the Board, and liaised with internal and external auditors to ensure statutory and management compliance. His earlier experience as Finance Director at Airtel Sierra Leone and Financial Controller at Zain further strengthened his expertise in telecom finance, taxation, and financial reporting.

A Foundation in Audit and Corporate Governance

Rwetabura began his professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers Tanzania, where he rose to Senior Associate, leading audit teams and preparing financial statements for diverse clients. This foundation in audit and corporate governance shaped his meticulous approach to compliance, risk management, and financial transparency.
