Vodacom Tanzania Plc has reported robust financial results for the year ended 31 March 2026, with Executive and Finance Director Hilda Bujiku pointing to four consecutive years of progressive dividends and disciplined long-term financial management as key markers of the company’s performance.
The mobile operator declared a dividend of TZS 53.6 billion for the year, an 18.4% increase, continuing its track record of rising payouts to shareholders. Bujiku said the dividend is underpinned by solid underlying results rather than a single strong year.
Service revenue rose 21.8% to TZS 1.85 trillion (over $679 million). Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 38.8% to TZS 684.9 billion, with the EBITDA margin expanding 4.3 percentage points to 36.4%. Net profit after tax grew 18.4% to TZS 107.1 billion, while operating free cash flow advanced 19.8% to TZS 248.0 billion.
“Numbers like these aren’t the product of one good year — they’re what happens when a leadership team commits to a long-term plan and has the discipline to see it through, even when it means reinvesting ahead of the reward,” Bujiku said. “That’s the kind of leadership I believe in, and the kind I’m building toward every day.”
She added that the FY2026 results reflect disciplined financial management and a balanced approach to capital allocation. “We have continued to strengthen the business while investing significantly in our network, technology and digital platforms and delivering increased value to shareholders. This approach positions us to sustain growth, maintain financial resilience and capture future opportunities in Tanzania’s evolving digital economy.”

The results were presented at Vodacom Tanzania’s Tenth Annual General Meeting, which marked a decade of formal reporting to shareholders. The company significantly stepped up investment during the year, with capital expenditure rising 85.1% to TZS 323.9 billion. It deployed 444 new 4G sites and 25 new 5G sites, modernised its network and invested heavily in IT and digital platforms.
As a result, 4G population coverage reached 76.3%, an increase of 3.8 percentage points, while the number of smartphone users grew 31.5%.
The combination of higher service revenue, expanded margins, stronger cash generation and progressive dividends positions Vodacom Tanzania to continue supporting network expansion and digital services while maintaining financial resilience.
