Mia Morrison joins Decentral Energy to lead strategic finance

Mia Morrison has taken up the role of Head of Strategic Finance at Decentral Energy, marking a new chapter in a career spanning finance, private capital and renewable energy investment.

In her new position, Morrison will support Decentral Energy’s Section 12B equity raise and debt capital raise, while helping to strengthen the Group’s operational finance infrastructure. She described the move as an energising opportunity to contribute to the company’s growth.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Strategic Finance at Decentral Energy,” Morrison wrote on LinkedIn. “In this role, I’ll be focused on supporting Decentral’s Section 12B Equity raise and Debt Capital raise, and helping build out the Group’s operational finance infrastructure. I’m energised by the mission ahead and looking forward to contributing to Decentral’s growth story.”

Before joining Decentral Energy, Morrison spent nine years at Investec. For the past 18 months she worked with Investec Fund Initiatives (Revego Fund Managers), a renewable energy investment company focused on operating projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

During that period she supported a complex fund restructure and capital raise, experiences she said sharpened her skills significantly.

Reflecting on her time at Investec, Morrison expressed gratitude for the opportunities, relationships and professional growth she gained. “It was a privilege to work alongside so many exceptional people who supported, challenged and encouraged me throughout my career,” she said. “The lessons I learned and the relationships I built will stay with me well beyond my time there.”

Her earlier career includes senior finance roles at Investec Private Capital and Private Bank National Finance, as well as positions at Ascendis Health, CrossCountry Consulting in the United States, and KPMG South Africa, where she worked as an Audit Supervisor focusing on mining and energy clients.
