The company announced the appointment on its LinkedIn page, describing Munyua as an experienced finance professional with expertise spanning financial strategy, corporate governance, treasury management, financial controls and business performance.

Munyua joins the Ethiopian operation after serving as Director, Group Financial Controller at Safaricom PLC in Kenya, where he was responsible for the Group’s accounting, financial reporting, capital management, funding, investments and corporate finance functions.

He also led debt funding initiatives that secured approximately $650 million in new funding, with an emphasis on sustainable finance, and headed the finance workstream for a transaction that enabled a new shareholder to acquire an equity stake in Safaricom Ethiopia.

Announcing the appointment, Safaricom Ethiopia said Munyua brings “extensive expertise in financial strategy, governance, treasury, controls, and business performance” to his new position.
