South Africa: Markos Davias resumes as FirstRand CFO

A renowned financial expert, Markos Davias has resumed a new position as the Group CFO for FirstRand Bank effective 1 April 2024.

Prior to his appointment at FirstRand, he served at FNB South Africa from RMB, where he has been serving in finance roles for 12 years.

Markos has been with RMB for 12 years. He was appointed as head of finance for global markets in 2008. Later that same year, he was appointed as the CFO of RMB’s investment banking division. In 2014, he was appointed as head of finance before being appointed as CFO in 2015.

He started his career in 2003 as a trainee accountant at Deloitte South Africa. In 2006, he was appointed as a manager at Deloitte.

Expressing his excitement on his LinkedIn page, he said “I am happy to share that I am starting a new position as Chief Finance Officer at FirstRand. Having held finance leadership positions in the two largest franchises in the group, I believe my worth of experience cumulated over the years will position FirstRand as one of the leading banks in South Africa.”

Markos obtained a B. Com honors degree in accounting and finance from the University of Johannesburg.
