Absa Bank Kenya has announced the appointment of seasoned finance professional Diana Mwaniki as Acting Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 July 2026, pending regulatory approval.
With more than 17 years of distinguished experience in financial services, Mwaniki brings a robust blend of strategic financial leadership, technical expertise, and a proven ability to deliver impactful business outcomes. Her appointment underscores Absa’s commitment to strengthening its financial leadership as the bank continues on its growth and transformation journey.
In her current role as Head of Finance for Financial Planning and Analysis at Absa Bank, and Finance Director at ABIL, Mwaniki has played a pivotal role in driving financial strategy, resource optimisation, and performance management. Prior to joining Absa, she spent over seven years at Stanbic Bank Kenya, where she served as Financial Controller and earlier as Manager of Internal Controls and Financial Reporting.

Her career foundation was built at EY, where she rose to the position of Manager, gaining deep exposure to complex financial reporting, IFRS compliance, risk management, and audit excellence across diverse clients.
Known for her analytical rigour and strategic mindset, Diana Mwaniki has consistently demonstrated strong capabilities in financial reporting, risk oversight, budgeting, and stakeholder management — competencies that position her ideally to guide Absa Bank Kenya through its next phase of development.
