Beginning his professional journey through rigorous training at KPMG as an Audit Associate, he honed skills in international auditing standards, risk assessment, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
This foundation propelled him into banking, where he rapidly advanced through roles at BancABC (part of Atlas Mara), contributing to merger integrations, streamlining accounting operations, statutory reporting, and implementing innovative tools such as automated payment systems and cost center solutions.
His ascent continued at Bank of China Zambia, where, as Financial Manager and later Chief Financial Officer/Finance Director, he spearheaded strategic financial and commercial decisions as a key executive team member. Musonda oversaw financial planning, budgeting, taxation, balance sheet management, capital structure, and regulatory compliance.

Under his leadership, the bank dramatically improved its industry standing, from outside the top tier to second in profitability and among the top five in financial position, while achieving the lowest cost-income ratio through disciplined cost management. Transitioning to Access Bank Zambia as Chief Financial Officer, Musonda navigated complex post-merger challenges, clearing acquisition backlogs and ensuring seamless integration amid regulatory demands. His hands-on approach strengthened financial controls, risk management, and stakeholder relationships.In his current role at Zambia Sugar, Musonda applies this banking-honed precision to agribusiness, focusing on capital allocation, cost optimization, regulatory excellence, and value creation in a commodity-driven environment. His board service extends to independent non-executive directorships at Agova and Nanga Farms, plus trusteeship contributions, underscoring his governance acumen.
