John Egbeleke has taken up a new role as Tax Officer at Moniepoint Group, marking the next chapter in a career defined by steady progression and deepening expertise in finance and taxation.
Egbeleke announced the move on LinkedIn, expressing readiness to embrace new challenges and continue creating value. His appointment follows a seven-year tenure at Stanbic IBTC, where he rose through multiple functions and built a strong foundation in banking operations, financial control and tax compliance.
Beginning in client services, Egbeleke progressed to roles in ATM and asset custody before moving into finance operations as an Accounts Payable officer. In that capacity, he managed month-end processes, reconciliations, intercompany balances and tax-related payments across several entities within the Stanbic IBTC Group.
He later transitioned fully into taxation, where he oversaw end-to-end corporate tax compliance covering Corporate Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax and Stamp Duties for multiple entities under the holding company.
During his time in the tax function, Egbeleke coordinated responses to federal and state tax authorities, managed audits and investigations across Nigeria’s 37 states, monitored tax risks and provided advisory support on new products and transactions.

Among his key contributions were the successful coordination of e-invoicing deployment across several Stanbic IBTC entities and the strengthening of compliance processes that reduced potential risk exposure.
Reflecting on his journey, Egbeleke expressed deep gratitude to the leaders, mentors and colleagues who supported his development. “From my early days in Customer Service and Branch Operations to Finance Operations and Taxation, every milestone brought new learning curves, technical challenges and opportunities to innovate and grow,” he noted. He closed his reflection with the familiar industry sentiment: “Once a blue blood, always a blue blood.”
