Mondelēz International Elevates Longtime CFO Luca Zaramella to Dual COO Role

by akinbodenaphtal@gmail.com

Mondelēz International has appointed its long-time Chief Financial Officer, Luca Zaramella, to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer, effective February 1, 2026. In this expanded role, Zaramella will oversee the global snacking and confectionery giant’s commercial operations across four geographical regions, along with corporate sales, marketing, and supply chain functions, while continuing as CFO until a successor is named.

The move aims to strengthen operational execution and speed up decision-making in a challenging market environment, according to the company. Zaramella, a member of the executive leadership team since 2018, will continue reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Dirk Van de Put. This restructuring allows Van de Put to concentrate more on major strategic initiatives, long-term growth, and value creation for shareholders.

“I am pleased to announce Luca’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer,” Van de Put said. He praised Zaramella as a strong leader with deep business knowledge and a proven track record of delivering results amid dynamic conditions, including inflationary pressures and portfolio adjustments.

Zaramella expressed enthusiasm for the role, stating he is honored to expand his focus on executional excellence and commercial performance. He highlighted the company’s iconic brands—such as Oreo, Ritz, Cadbury Dairy Milk, and Milka—and its potential for sustained growth across more than 150 countries.

The announcement comes as Mondelēz prepares to release its fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 financial results on February 3, 2026, amid ongoing volume pressures from value-conscious consumers shifting toward more affordable or healthier options. In 2024, the company reported net revenues of approximately $36.4 billion.
