Dipak Chummun is an accomplished finance executive with over three decades of global experience spanning corporate finance, strategy, risk management, and emerging market growth. Currently serving as the Group Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and an Executive Director of MCB Group Ltd, Dipak is at the helm of driving the Group’s financial and operational excellence.
Joining MCB Group in September 2024 as Group CFO, Dipak has brought with him a wealth of expertise gained from leadership roles at premier financial institutions, including Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays, Emirates NBD, and Deutsche Bank. His professional journey has taken him across key financial hubs like London, Dubai, Singapore, and Frankfurt, where he spearheaded strategic initiatives that boosted growth in emerging markets.
Notably, under Dipak’s leadership, MCB Group has continued to solidify its reputation as a financial powerhouse. A testament to this success is MCB being named “Bank of the Year 2024” by The Banker Magazine at the prestigious Bank of the Year Awards. This accolade underscores MCB Group’s innovative approach to banking, commitment to excellence, and impact across the African financial landscape.
Before joining MCB, Dipak held executive roles at Ireland Blyth Limited (IBL Ltd), where he oversaw transformative initiatives as the Group CFO, including operational restructuring and governance enhancements that positioned IBL as an industry leader. He also served as Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, advancing market development and corporate governance in the financial sector.
As MCB Group’s CFO and Executive Director, Dipak plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Group’s financial strategy, risk management, and corporate governance. He is a key member of the Risk Monitoring, Corporate Strategy, and Supervisory & Monitoring Committees, contributing to the Group’s vision of driving innovation and growth in financial services across Africa and beyond.
Dipak is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (UK) and holds a BSc (Honours) in Computer Science. In addition to his corporate contributions, he is an active member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), further showcasing his commitment to advancing global financial standards.
