MTN Cameroon has appointed Davies Oyegbata as its new Chief Financial Officer, bringing on board a seasoned telecommunications finance executive with more than 25 years of experience across Africa and Europe.
Oyegbata joins the company at a time when MTN Cameroon continues to strengthen its growth trajectory and deliver greater value to customers, partners and other stakeholders. The appointment was announced by the company, which highlighted his solid expertise in financial leadership, business transformation and commercial finance within the telecoms sector.
“With more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications in Africa and Europe, he brings a solid expertise that will help consolidate the company’s growth momentum while continuing to bring more value to all its stakeholders,” MTN Cameroon said in its announcement.
Oyegbata most recently served as Managing Consultant and Chief Executive at TRUSERV in the United Kingdom, where he focused on business transformation, process digitisation, telecoms, e-commerce and fintech deployments, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

Before that, he spent nearly three years at BT Group in the UK. He served as Finance Director at BT Business, where he played a key role in the integration of BT Enterprise and BT Global to create an £8.3 billion revenue business, and earlier as Finance Director at BT Enterprise, overseeing financial planning, reporting, controlling and commercial strategy support.
His career includes a significant stint within the MTN Group. Between January 2018 and September 2022, Oyegbata was General Manager of Commercial Finance at MTN, where he provided financial planning, reporting, decision support and controlling across consumer, enterprise, digital, fintech, strategy and customer operations businesses.
Before joining MTN, he held senior commercial finance roles at Vodacom as Executive Head of Commercial Finance Support, and earlier positions at Vodafone UK, including Finance Manager in Commercial Finance and roles in financial planning and analysis, group tax and business case analysis. He also worked at Cable & Wireless Communications and began his career in banking in Nigeria.
Oyegbata holds an MBA and is a Fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA).
MTN Cameroon said his deep experience in telecoms finance, cost transformation, commercial strategy and multi-market operations positions him well to support the company’s continued growth and value-creation agenda in Cameroon.
