André Van der Merwe has been promoted to Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Financial Instrument Valuations team in South Africa.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in Van der Merwe’s career within the firm, where he has steadily progressed through successive leadership roles.
He previously served as Manager in Financial Risk, Assistant Manager, Senior Consultant, Consultant, and Junior Consultant, building deep expertise in financial instruments, valuations, and financial risk management.
Reflecting on the promotion, Van der Merwe emphasised the importance of the journey and the support he received along the way.
“I’m proud to share that I’ve been promoted to Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Financial Instrument Valuations team. While promotions are often celebrated as ‘single milestones’, today I’m reflecting on the journey that got me to this point and the people who made it possible. I’m excited for the opportunities ahead and look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and strengthen my relationships with these talented teams,” he said.

Before joining Deloitte, Van der Merwe worked as an Actuarial Assistant at Johan Sauer Actuaries and Consultants, where he focused on the quantification of legal damages.
He also held roles as a mathematics tutor and vocal coach, experiences that reflect a broad foundation of discipline, leadership, and communication skills.
