John Keru is a seasoned financial executive with over a decade of leadership at Citibank, serving as Chief Financial Officer for Citibank Kenya and East Africa.
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Keru oversees the finance function across four East African countries—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia—driving strategic financial management and operational excellence in a dynamic regional market.
As CFO, Keru ensures robust financial oversight, guiding Citibank’s operations with a focus on compliance, profitability, and sustainable growth. His leadership has strengthened Citibank’s position as a trusted financial institution in East Africa, supporting clients across the corporate, commercial, and institutional banking sectors.
Before his current role, Keruserved as Corporate Reporting Head for Citibank’s Sub-Saharan Africa region from October 2014 to July 2015. In this capacity, he coordinated reporting activities for U.S. regulatory reports and spearheaded data quality initiatives across 11 countries. His expertise in managing complex, multi-country financial reporting frameworks laid a strong foundation for his elevation to CFO.
