Standard Bank Namibia appoints Paulina Iiyambo as Head of Internal Audit

Standard Bank Namibia has announced the appointment of Paulina Iiyambo as Head of Internal Audit, marking a significant step in the bank’s commitment to robust governance and audit leadership.

In a statement issued by the bank, Iiyambo’s promotion reflected her “over 15 years of experience in internal audit, IT risk, cybersecurity, and governance.” She assumes the role after serving as Senior Manager of IT Audit for Tech & Ops at Standard Bank Namibia since September 2023, where she was responsible for critical audit functions and IT governance.

“With her extensive professional and academic background, we’re confident in her leadership and the value she will continue to bring to the team,” the statement read.

Before her most recent position, Iiyambo spent nearly six years at NamPower as a Senior IT Auditor, where she played a key role in strengthening IT systems and internal controls within Namibia’s energy sector.

Her career also includes significant international experience. Iiyambo served as Assistant Vice President at Barclays Internal Audit in London and simultaneously worked with EY in London, focusing on IT risk and assurance for financial services. Her responsibilities encompassed IT strategy, cybersecurity assessments, third-party management, and resilience planning for a wide range of global clients.

Earlier in her career, Iiyambo held the role of IT Audit Manager at Standard Bank Group in Namibia, managing integrated audits and leveraging frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL to drive risk-based improvements. She actively contributed to steering committees and post-implementation reviews, supporting the bank’s technology and operational objectives.

Iiyambo began her professional journey at Deloitte Namibia, rising from Junior IT Audit Consultant to Senior Consultant. Her work there included general control and application audits, data analytics, SAP reviews, and leading audit engagements across banking, telecoms, and government industries.
